Superior judiciary has refused to accept apology tendered by Mr Babar Awan in his contempt of court case. It seems the judiciary is on a track of reformation and better control over things.
When Gen Pervez Musharraf removed Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry on March 9th, 2007, there were many analysts including some intelligence reports, who believed that Gen Musharraf will bring in a new setup and things will become normal. But the move not only brought dictator’s regime down eventually but also changed the course for history to revisit many of its milestones which it had crossed, specially the PCO decision given by the same CJ as member of the bench.
But the most surprising element is that even after going through a lot of change the history is repeating itself yet again, even Gen Musharraf expects justice and plans to return while suddenly changes the programme after CJ made it clear in one of his recent speeches that Musharraf has to bear for his unconstitutional acts the course of law.
More surprising is Musharraf’s Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and leader of his APML, Mr Sher Afgan Niazi who then on 27 August 2007 in one of the TV programmes said “this is not judiciary, this is a political party; they should contest election”. Now in one of his son’s accident case, Mr Niazi is expecting justice from the same judiciary.
So what is it, hypocrisy and opportunism or change with time kind of thing that the judiciary which Mr Sher Afgan believed had become a political party will do justice with him in his personal case while in CJ’s case this judiciary did not do justice. I guess it is time our politician stop making fool of the people.
