The 43rd Convocation of the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Wah and Attock Campuses, was held on Tuesday.
Federal Science and Technology Minister and CIIT Chancellor Mir Changez Khan Jamali was the chief guest at the ceremony held at the Pak-China Friendship Center.
The chief guest congratulated the CIIT administration and faculty for their efforts in the institution’s progress.
He highlighted the importance of higher education for the development of the country and said he hoped CIIT will be granted the status of a federally chartered university.
Highlighting the importance of quality education, Jamali advised the young graduates to fully utilise their potential in order to bring a healthy change in the society.
He also congratulated the graduating students and advised them to work harder in their practical lives.
165 students, 142 of the Wah Campus and 23 of the Attock Campus, were awarded degrees at the masters and graduation levels in the disciplines of management sciences, computer science and computer engineering.
11 campus medals (4 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze) and 4 institute medals (1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze) were also awarded to the position holders in various programmes.
Wah Campus Director Dr Tayyab Akram presented the campus report and discussed the long-term strategic and development plans of the CIIT Wah campus.
He informed the audience about scholarships being provided to students who belonged to far flung areas like FATA, DI Khan and Gilgit Biltistan.
He further said that CIIT Wah had focused to provide highly skilled manpower to the industries in the surrounding areas.
The Attock campus director also presented its report and talked about the facilities being provided to the students.
He also congratulated the graduating students on their brilliant achievement and hoped they would work even harder in their practical life.
CIIT Rector Prof Dr Junaid Zaidi expressed his satisfaction on the functioning of the institute and acknowledged the efforts of the faculty in the academic development of their students.
He called upon the graduating students to be composed and encouraged them to play their new role effectively in the society.
The students’ representative recalled her stay at the institution and declared it the best time of the entire academic life for the whole batch.
She paid tribute to the faculty and the management for their dedicated efforts and unmatched cooperation. The entire graduating lot of the students gave a standing ovation to their parents for their sacrifices.
