Position holders awarded medals, merit certificates

The Foundation University Medical College (FUMC) organised its annual day here on Wednesday. Prof. Dr Bilal A Khan, rector, Foundation University, Islamabad, was the chief guest while FUMC Principal Maj-Gen (retd) Dr Nasim-ul-Majeed was also present on the occasion.
The rector distributed gold medals, silver medals, distinction certificates and merit certificates among the students of MBBS 1st Professional Part-I and II, 2nd Professional and 3rd Professional over their respective academic achievements.
While addressing the audience, Prof Bilal said that the FUMC has covered several milestones of development and today it stands out as a distinguished institution among medical colleges of the country. “The well-designed campus of the college is located in proximity of a large teaching hospital and provides a students-friendly atmosphere highly conducive to learning,” he said.
He informed the audience that the construction of a building to house the dental college has also been started and it is expected that the dental degree programme would commence at FUMC in the near future.
Dr Bilal said FUMC is one of the pioneer institutions, where a dedicated department of medical education has been created. “Some of the senior faculty members have taken keen interest in acquiring formal education and training in this futuristic discipline. This timely taken step will go a long way in bringing the teaching methodology at FUMC in line with the latest trends in practice globally,” he added.
He said that the human output of the FUMC has earned a good repute in the circles of medical profession by performing well in the postgraduate examinations both in the country and abroad. “Alongside the exhaustive academic schedules, the Foundation University has taken care to provide the opportunities for co-curricular activities, including sports, athletics, debates and arts. This not only serves to recreate and refresh the tired minds but also plays a positive role in personality development and grooming of the young doctors,” he said.
While congratulating the students who achieved academic excellence in various examinations, he said this performance is reflective of their hard work and devotion for which they genuinely deserve appreciation. He admired the role of faculty, adding that their competence and dedication is the most crucial factor in the scholastic growth of students.
Earlier, Maj-Gen (retd)Dr Nasim-ul-Majeed, principal, Foundation University Medical College, welcomed the guests, faculty, parents, alumni and students.
