Woes of a commuter

There is a growing traffic congestion in Karachi which is a major issue faced by commuters like me every day. The main reasons behind the constant traffic jams on the roads of Karachi include political rallies, protests, lawlessness, parking problems and mismanagement on the part of the traffic police.

The ever-increasing rush of heavy traffic on the roads is creating major traffic jams, resulting in hazardous conditions for the daily commuters through air and noise pollution and security issues.

The port in Karachi is so positioned that all the country’s imports and exports pass through this route, hence a massive traffic jam is common everyday and the government is not doing anything to control this deteriorating situation. Damaged roads, non-operational signals and illegally parked tankers at the curb add to the constant traffic congestion. People stuck in the traffic jams are being mugged while the authorities turn a blind eye.

On top of that commuters are surrounded by buses belching smoke which could only be lethal to one’s life. Another reason is the VIP movement due to which a lot of precious time is wasted just for the convenience of a few individuals.

It is high time that the local authorities planned and take action against the chaotic traffic system, lawlessness and old and smoke emitting vehicles so that at least we can travel on the city roads and highways in a safe, clean and stress-free environment.
