NATO supplies can’t be resumed through executive order: Fazl

Chief of his own faction of JUI Maulana Fazlur Rehman has strongly rejected the notion that NATO supplies could ever be resumed through any executive order.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he said that his party had stressed a determined stance, offering some amendments, due to which there was no question that NATO supplies could ever be resumed.
“If the rulers ever dare to override the recommendations, and resume NATO supplies, JUI would strongly resist such moves and government would be responsible for all the resulting disintegration that would follow”, he threatened.
The JUI head cited three articles of the recommendations, which were, however, removed, in “a visible sign of show of strength of JUI”.
He also said that he had met opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday, whence Nisar had lauded JUI efforts.
He added that no one, including American ambassador Munter could ever pressurise him (Fazl)
He said further that linking the resumption of NATO supplies to cessation of drone attacks was tabled by PML-Q, but was deferred over JUI’s opposition.
“Even the prime minister has offered categorical assurances during joint parliamentary session, to raise the issue of drone attacks with American authorities “he said, adding that the prime minister should take concrete steps to ensure that piratical result-oriented steps are taken to resolve the issue.
Responding to a question, he rejected recent media reports that NATO supplies had been resumed.
“The government should have issued its immediate denials regarding the issue, but it failed to deliberate”, he said.
He said that JUI and Pakistan Defense Council shared unanimity over the issues of drone attacks and NATO supplies, and said that Jamaat-ud-Dawaa head Hafiz Saeed had thanked his (Fazl’s ), strong resistance to any of government’s negative stance.
“However despite having unanimity of views, JUI is not a part of Pakistan Defense Council “, Fazl stated.
