The Second National Energy Summit 2012 is being held in Lahore on Monday, April 9. According to official announcement, it is being attended by all stakeholders including the federal and provincial governments officials concerned and it will mainly deliberate on five point agenda including finalising a roadmap for meeting the national energy demand and effective measures for power saving. All this, and hopefully perhaps much more, will be discussed and decided through mutual collaboration among all provincial governments.

While wishing the energy moot a great success in achieving its targeted objectives to further the national interests, this is to suggest that besides deliberation on effective measures for power saving that the participants would also exchange views and come to some positive conclusion regarding fuel saving measures as well.

As per official figures, country is meeting it 85 percent oil requirements through imports and through adopting fuel saving measures the oil import bill could be reduced and resources so saved could be diverted towards energy generation projects. Furthermore, power generation and oil consumption are both inter-linked and inter-dependent on each other both directly and industry.
