City of lights?

The latest violence and the situation in Karachi would make even the most optimistic amongst us think that the city has been amid sea of blood.

In the last few days over 30 people have been killed. The gangs are blamed by most of the politicians for this but the question is: are they really some gangs or the same versions of our corrupted political parties?

Let us just say that gangs are involved, but then again it’s a bitter fact that in Karachi every powerful gang has an even more powerful political party providing them support. Is there no one left who can take actions against these gangs and parties?

The three main political parties in Karachi – the MQM, the ANP and the PPP – need to put their grievances aside for the sake of the city. The sad truth is that violence is just ruining our city. Many other solutions have been suggested that are likely to beget further violence.

Bringing in the army or giving orders to shoot to kill right away to the forces, will only make a mess and create more anger and hate. It’s the duty of those who have been elected and taken oaths for the prosperity of Pakistan and its citizens to bring to an end this violence. We do not want blood anymore.
