PHNP members call on Holy See envoy

A five-member delegation of the Peace and Harmony Network Pakistan (PHNP) called on ambassador to Vatican Edgar Pena Parra at the Embassy of the Holy See in Islamabad, a press release said on Thursday.
The delegation comprised Peace and Harmony Network chairman Maulana Zubair Abid, coordinator Javaid William, Pir Shafaat Rasool, Pandit Haroon Sarab Diyal and Shakir Rizvi. Bishop Dr Andrew Francis, co-chairperson of the network, was also present on the occasion.
Javaid William informed the ambassador that top religious leaders from different religions like Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, Sikhs and Bha’i were working jointly for the promotion of peace and harmony. “We developed ourselves on the theme of mutual respect, tolerance and common grounds to work upon,” he said.
Edgar Pena Parra assured the delegation complete support in its efforts to speared message of peace, harmony and coexistence. The ambassador would also arrange a meeting of the network members with Pope Benedict XVI in Rome, Italy, in near future, the release said.
The delegation informed the envoy that they were interested in arranging an Ambassador Conference for advocacy in Islamabad, to which, he assured his support. The Holy See ambassador will also be the chief guest at the upcoming conference of the Peace and Harmony Network.
“We are working on inter and intra faith peace and harmony amongst different religious communities to harmonise their living and co-existence,” said Maulana Zubair Abid.
“Our approach in this project (PHNP) is holistic, participative, consensual and national with cascading effect to the grass root level,” he said.
