Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) on Tuesday held a protest against expected restoration of NATO supplies, warning that there would be no assurance of parliamentarians’ safety, if they passed a resolution to restore NATO supplies. Thousands of activists affiliated with several religious and banned outfits gathered in front of the Parliament House. Holding banners and flags of their parties, the protesters were chanting slogans against the government and US. Addressing the gathering, outlawed JuD chief Hafiz Saeed said that former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf made a mistake, which resulted in loss of thousand of lives and sabotaged the country’s peace. “But, today parliament is going to make another huge mistake which may fall much heavier on Pakistan than Musharraf’s move,” he said. Saeed said that parliamentarians had taken the oath to save the country’s sovereignty and they should now save the sanctity of their oath, adding that if they could not save the country than they should resign at once. He said that the government had also not rectified injustices done with Balochs yet, adding that Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani had also promised to convene a APC on the Balochistan issue but could not do so. JI chief Munawar Hasan and others also addressed the gathering.
