Recommending a complete U-turn in Pakistan’s foreign policy, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has categorically opposed reopening of NATO supply route to Afghanistan.
Speaking on the point of order in the joint session of the parliament here on Tuesday,
He said if recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) were approved with a majority, it will be the decision of the government not the parliament.
He explored what he termed serious flaws in the recommendations if review it together with the proposals of the two APCs and the two resolutions of the parliament.
It was made clear that foreign policy of Pakistan was leverage by a dictator before 2008 and it seriously failed. “Then I don’t understand the continuation of Pakistan’s role as front line state and player in war on terror as it was the policy before the incumbent government.” Pakistan, its institutions, the government, this parliament on so many occasions have expressed that military solution is not workable in Afghanistan, he said.
