Importance of PM’s order

The nation was eager and delighted to witness the India and Pakistan cricket match of the Asia Cup in Bangladesh on March 18. A day before the match, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani proudly announced and instructed the ministry of power not to carry out loadshedding throughout the country, so that people could enjoy every moment of the One-Day cricket match between India and Pakistan.

Loadshedding was carried out as usual from 11:30am to 1:30pm in my locality of Garden West, Karachi. The match began at 1:00pm (PST) and we missed the first half an hour’s play.

When I called the KESC office to find out why loadshedding was being carried out despite the prime minister’s clear orders, the person at the KESC office was in a joyful mood, as he replied, “Does our prime minister listen to the Supreme Court’s orders? Then why should the KESC listen to him and obey his orders?”
