A flag-hoisting ceremony was observed at the Pakistan High Commission in London on Friday to celebrate Pakistan Day. High Commissioner Wajid Shamsul Hasan hoisted the national flag and the messages of the president and the prime minister of Pakistan for this occasion were read out. In his address, the high commissioner said that Pakistan came into existence as a result of countless sacrifices in blood, toil and tears of the masses that remained steadfast in their commitment to pursue the destiny of a separate homeland for them. Setting up the final goal on March 23, 1940, he said, the Quaid’s unflinching faith in the democratic destiny of the nation for a socio-economic egalitarian system helped the Muslims of the Sub-continent achieve it in a short span of seven years. Later, the school children presented beautiful national songs and a cake was also cut by the wife of high commissioner, Zarina Wajid Hasan
