ITP’s lane discipline campaign kicks off

The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) in collaboration with Ufone launched a lane discipline campaign on Tuesday at the I-8 traffic signal. Islamabad Police Inspector General Bani Amin Khan and Ufone Chief Commercial Officer Salman Wassay inaugurated the campaign by giving tips to commuters about lane discipline and the advantages of keeping to the correct lanes. They also distributed flowers, sweets and pamphlets among them.
The campaign will aim to establish a disciplined traffic system in the city, by avoiding lane violations which cause severe accidents and damage vehicles.
The ITP and Ufone have also displayed informative banners on various roads that advice to motorists to follow traffic rules and use mirrors and indicators while changing lanes.
Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal Managing Director Zamurd Khan was also present at the occasion. He was accompanied by children from Bait-ul-Maal schools and sweet homes. They distributed flowers and brochures among the motorists, urging them to assist the ITP in making the roads safe.
The IGP said it was the first day of the educational campaign in the city this year and that the awareness about lane discipline will provided to the commuters effectively.
He thanked Ufone for collaboration with the ITP for the campaign.
He added that community policing was the slogan of the police force and that relations with private and government organisations will be strengthened to disseminate road safety messages.
SSP (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood said the campaign was held to acquaint people with traffic laws while inculcating better traffic sense among them.
He stated that the ITP was exerting its utmost efforts to maintain traffic discipline in the city and was involving the community in eliminating traffic violations.
The IGP also presented souvenirs to Zamurd Khan and Ufone officials and thanked them for their cooperation.
