Unfortunately, the newborns and infants in the upper and lower Sindh districts do not receive high-quality child care and early education. Neither the past regimes nor the present government – both at the federal and provincial level – has done anything for the health and wellbeing of mother and child in these districts.
In the aftermath of the disastrous floods and rains during the last two years, the morality rate has become alarming in these districts. The infants who survive have chronic health and behaviour problems.
I appeal to the international NGOs and child and mother caring organisations to take practical measures to improve the plight of infants and mothers in the upper and lower Sindh districts.
