Pot. Kettle. Black.

Sindh Assembly’s session on Friday 16th March 2012 was marred by the hooliganism of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmakers who protested over extortion and terrorism. This was followed by a strike call on Saturday throughout Karachi in which business, transport and all petrol pumps were forcibly shut with out taking into account the problems of daily wage labourers who spent a day of hunger.

One fails to understand the dynamics of MQM’s politics. This second largest party of Sindh has never thought of twisting the arm of the government when it comes to sky rocketing prices of petrol, diesel, electricity, gas and other commodities. The party does not bother to protest over deteriorating law and order and the killings of 5-7 people in Karachi in a day within a span of 1-2 hours. Now MQM is protesting over extortions and extortionists. This reminds me of the famous idiom “Pot calling the kettle black”!

  1. MQM wants to run with the hares and hunt with fox. They are the pinoeeers who mastered the art of extortion in the city of Karachi, which never experienced such massive rise in street crimes till 1985 onwards. Now that others have come to have their share of this lucrative business, there is this battle for turf by the mafioso dons.
