Pakistan’s largest teachers conference opens

A two-day international symposium “Navigating Teaching & Learning” opened here in Islamabad club on Friday. The symposium was organised by Roots Academy for Professional and Intellectual Development (RAPID). It was attended by over 450 delegates, academia and leading national and international speakers.
The symposium started with a welcome note from the RAPID Executive Director Walid Mushtaq. The moderator of the event was Dr Upali Mahanama, DBA FSBP MNZIM FMSLIM, International Marketing Consultant & Corporate Trainer, Sri Lanka.
The symposium was formally inaugurated by Dr Nadeem-ul-Haq, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission.
The key note of the symposium going forward – how to become excellent navigators of learning was delivered by Shireen Naqvi, CEO, School of Leadership Trustee, School of Leadership. Up next was the inspiring note on the 4Is – inquire, inspire, innovate and impact by Walid Mushtaq. This was followed by a humorous and energy packed session by Sohail Zindani, CEO Learning Mind Groups.
The symposium also featured an enlightening session by noted intellectual Dr Prof Pervez Hoodboy who shared his insightful views on the topic ready to learn: bringing scientific inquiry into classrooms. This was followed by a highly interactive panel discussion on the topic “3 forces are shaping the world of 21st Century: youth ICT and entrepreneurship in which panelists such as Bazgha Iftikhar, National Expert for ICT in Education- UNESCO, and Muhammad Usman Khan, Citizenship Manager Microsoft, shared their opinions and expertise with the audience.
The symposium also featured a videoconference with Britain’s leading school Thomas Deacon Academy on the topic “world class – lessons from the best schools”. CEO Curricular Exchange Asma Inayat led an innovative workshop session on ‘confident teachers, confident learners new ways of inspiring students’.
In the end, noted psychologist and CEO of therapy works Tahir Zahoor shared his thoughts on the teacher and student and building of working alliance between them. The first day of the symposium concluded with the learning outcomes by the symposium moderator.
