The PM thinks he has put our doubts to rest by saying, “I am the prime minister and not a peon”, but his recent performance belies his claim. “To write to the Swiss authorities to reopen graft cases against Asif Ali Zardari would be in violation of the constitution”, he says. He says he is willing to leave politics but would not stab Zardari in the back. So, what is it: is it the constitution that holds him back or his servile loyalty to one particular personality?
Then he pontificates, “Personalities do not matter but institutions must be made strong and safe.” Is he talking about the same institution which he is attacking so blatantly, goading it to act against him, just to gain political mileage?
When someone taunted Mohammad Ali boxer how he felt about sharing his religion with the people who had committed the 9/11 atrocity, he replied, “How do you feel about sharing your religion with Hitler?”
