It is heartening to note the recent announcement by the Government of Pakistan of awarding Hilal-e-Imtiaz to Ms Sharmeen Obaid. It is high time that we start recognising our real heroes on the national level and present them as an inspiration to rest of the country.
While the award is definitely well deserved by Ms Obaid, why is it that the government of Pakistan is recognising her efforts only after she received the Oscar? The worthy director’s efforts should have been recognised regardless of her performance at the Oscar awards.
