350 new buses imported, police asked to be more vigilant

CM Shahbaz Sharif has said the provincial government was introducing a modern public transport system in the province for providing quality and comfortable travelling facilities to the masses. He said 350 new buses, with a capacity to carry 80 passengers each, would be plied for the passengers in Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Gujranwala and Bahawalpur under this project. He said besides making public transport system according to the international standard, the staff of these buses would be educated, courteous and dressed in clean uniform. He was presiding over a meeting held to make public transport system modern in the province on Sunday. Lahore Transport Company Chairman Khawaja Ahmad Hasaan gave a detailed briefing regarding new public transport system. Addressing the meeting, the CM said the provincial government was importing modern buses from China for providing best travelling facilities to the masses. He directed that a strategy be evolved for introducing student card scheme for concession in fare so that students could get facility in getting knowledge.
POLICE OFFICERS: The CM also directed the police officers to make the police stations a symbol of protection for the oppressed where complainants should be given respect and provided complete justice. He was addressing a function held with regard to giving away prizes to the police officers and officials who recovered a child kidnapped in Jhang, on Sunday. Prizes of about Rs. 80 lacs were distributed among the team which conducted the operation. Home Secretary and IG Police were also present on the occasion. Addressing the function, the CM disclosed that 15000 constables had been recruited in the police department on merit.
