For about 50 days, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, for about 16 days, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, and for about 11 days, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology, Nawabshah and other universities of interior Sindh are closed.
Where is civil society? Where is media? Where is judiciary? Where is ruling PPP? In the last general elections of 2008, people of Sindh gave heavy mandate to PPP, almost 90 percent of provincial assembly’s seats were bagged by PPP. But, this is shocking that all universities of interior Sindh are closed and not even a single MPA of ruling PPP bothers to debate this issue in the Provincial Assembly of Sindh.
This is feudal mindset; to deprive the people of their fundamental right of education. This is a real eye-opener for central leadership of the government. The Honourable President of Pakistan should take notice of this issue without any delay. And for the next general elections, Pakistan Peoples Party leadership should award tickets to middle class well-educated youngsters, dedicated workers of PPP, instead of these uneducated feudals, peers and gadi nasheens.
Another worthwhile thing is that if the ruling PPP wants to perform good in the next general elections like it did in 2008, then its PPP central leadership has to go for paradigm shift in its basic policies. Some well-educated senior legislators of party belong to Sindh, like Fauzia Wahab, Raza Rabbani and others, they should be elevated to important key positions.
Education of interior Sindh is being crippled by feudal mindset. Interior Sindh has remained the strongest fort of PPP since 1967, and this region needs special importance.
