A foreign journalist and his guide, an Islamabad-based journalist, were detained by police for visiting slain Al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad without getting formal permission from authorities concerned. According to sources, British journalist Andrew had a visa for Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi only but he visited the prohibited area near the compound with Muhammad Faizan for a news story on Bin Laden’s stay in Pakistan. Andrew also made footage of the compound.
“His activities were noticed by the security personnel deployed at the compound. They informed their high-ups and apprehended both the visiting journalists,” sources said. After questioning and deleting the footage from the camera, security officials shifted them to a police station.
