Sindh’s tourist sites to get Rs 372 million facelift

A total of Rs 372.340 million will be spent on various development schemes to make Sindh’s excursion and historic sites more attractive for tourists, said Sindh Tourism Minister Muhammad Ali Malkani.
He said this while presiding over a meeting held in his office to review the new and ongoing development schemes. Those who attended the meeting included Tourism Secretary Syed Safdar Ali Shah, Additional Secretary Akhtar Hussain Bughti, Gorakh Hill Development Authority Director General Nazeer Ahmed, Sindh Tourism Development Corporation Managing Director Manzoor Ahmed Kanasro, Pakistan Institute of Tourism and Hotel (PITHM) Managing Director Abdul Razaque and PITHM Consultant Waseem Ahmed among others executive engineers and relevant officials. On the occasion, Malkani directed the officers concerned to complete the ongoing developmental projects on time while no negligence would be tolerated and no compromise made on quality.
“If development schemes are not completed on-time, stern action will be taken against the officers responsible,” he added. The provincial tourism minister was of the view that foreign exchange can be generated if tourism sector is given the proper attention. The Tourism secretary said that Rs 259.027 million would be spent on five ongoing development schemes during the year 2011-12, while Rs 113.313 million would be spent on eight new projects.
