Slain police official’s son murdered by kidnappers

The body of a 12-year-old boy, who was the son of a slain police official, was found on Sunday after police arrested the men, who allegedly kidnapped and murdered him over non-payment of ransom.
Zaeem Nawaz Ranjha was the son of DSP Haq Nawaz Ranjha, who was murdered on August 16, 2010 at MA Jinnah Road.
According to police, a group of sanitary workers kidnapped Zaeem on February 8 near the apartment building where he resided and were demanding a ransom of Rs 20 million.
When they were not paid the money, they killed the boy and buried him in at a plot in Block 8 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
The Shahrah-e-Faisal SHO said case No 120/12 under Section 365-A was registered on the complaint of Zaeem’s mother.
Talking to Pakistan Today, Shah Faisal Division SP said a group of sanitary workers had befriended Zaeem and after a few days, they called him to a spot near his apartment building one night and kidnapped him.
Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) chief Ghulam Subhani told Pakistan Today that a team of his cell arrested four kidnappers and they confessed to their crime and also pointed out where the body was.
Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) chief Ahmed Chinoy said the last time the kidnappers spoke with the victim’s family, they had reduced the ransom to Rs 5 million. However, the family could not arrange this amount of money.
. Zaeem’s funeral prayer was offered at Saima Towers near the Millennium Shopping Mall in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and he was buried at the Mewashah graveyard.
