Resource-rich Sindh is going through worst period of its history. From Karachi to Kashmor and from Kashmor to Karonjhar, the government is not visible anywhere in the province, what to speak of bad or good governance.
Corruption knows no bounds. Authority is being misused by both the senior and junior officers. Public institutions have lost their effectiveness and efficiency. Neither is there accountability of authority being used nor that of institutions.
Golden values such as responsiveness and consensus-oriented approach, which used to be the hallmarks of the provincial government during the days of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, have become alien in today’s Sindh. No one bothers to promote the participatory sense in the society. No one bothers to democratise the institutions and the thick-skinned officers.
Four years are over but unfortunately nothing has changed in the province. Sindh is being managed by callous clan chieftains, kidnappers and corrupt officials. Is there anyone in the corridors of power and politics to rescue the province and strive for the promotion of good governance?
