Brazen injustice

The hideous crime of poor Saleem Shehzad’s murder simply went unchecked. The shady murderers, let alone the trial and punishment, have simply not been identified. A commission comprising of judges and policemen has miserably failed to deliver justice. It’s an insult to the intelligence of all those people and journalists who had reposed hope and confidence in the investigation process of this commission.

Allow me to ask what’s the point of celebrating an independent judiciary when justice cannot be delivered? Why celebrate an independent media when the punishment for revealing the truth is abduction, truth and finally murder? Why pursue education plans when it is the law of the jungle which has to prevail? We have a tradition of setting up commission panels for the slightest of occurrences, but how are we to arrive upon substantial results when those presiding as judges are made to succumb before the diabolical forces of the system?

There have been a number of credible voices holding the ISI responsible for Saleem’s murder. If there is even a grain of truth in the fact that the intelligence agencies are responsible for Saleem Shehzad’s murder, then these espionage people are no different from the ruffians and ruthless bombers. In such a situation, DG ISI Ahmed Shuja Pasha should have resigned and the culprits brought to justice.

The irony is that the guardians of the country are seen to be sharing similarities with criminals, to say the least, and then they have the audacity to walk away with a cocky boldness as if the people are meant to be condemned to silence. This is sheer highhandedness and brazen injustice.

  1. Nicely put, Mr. Shaikh. i agree with you that severe injustices are brought upon the weak in our country. That's why I think PTI is the only hope!

  2. I AGREE WITH THE WRITER,BUT THIS " BRAZEN INJUSTICE" WILL REMAIN UNCHECKED BECAUSE JUSTICE IS BASED ON TRANSPARENCY,,INDEPENDENCE AND INTEGRITY……..

  3. Mr Sheikh the independent media has put up question marks on the IsI which was considered as a Holy agency and the independent judiciary though still not as powerful to try the establishment but atleast has taken up issues which directly affects the ordinary people and is a good check on the corrupt government.
Though improvements are required but this requires time and the judiciary and media will eventually come of age.

  4. holding ISI responsible for saleem shahzad’s killing after detailed enquiry by judicial commission is simply contempt of court.

  5. nicely worded by the writer. but why did you blame only media and judiciary system. media protested near Parliament House to get justice to Saleem Shehzad. let the Judiciary celebrate because they strived to get freedom from dictatorship.
Ask yourself and a lay man that why don't we (youth) go outside to bring CHANGE?
remember, Pakistani media Makes the news rather than Sharing a news !!
