Hospitals and schools of Lyari to get doctors and teachers

Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed ordered on Tuesday that doctors and teachers should be posted at hospitals and schools in Lyari, respectively.
He was speaking during a meeting held at his office to review and discuss the problems faced by residents of Lyari. KMC Municipal Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan, MPA Saleem Hingo, health services senior director, education director and other high officials attended the meeting.
The said the buildings of five maternity homes, five dispensaries, a general hospital and an eye hospital in Lyrai are being renovated doctors, paramedics and the non-paramedic staff would be posted at these these hospitals and dispensaries in the next 15 days along with provision of ambulances, generators and other equipment.
He said the required doctors and paramedical staff for medical institutions in Lyari would be appointed on contract basis. “People of Lyari should be given preference for appointment to these medical institutions,” he added.
The health services senior director informed the administrator that up to .8 million is spent on the medical institutions in Lyari.
The education director said 61 schools are located in Lyari, out of which 48 were primary in which 247 teachers teach 8,000 students.
Four school buildings there have been renovated recently, while the repair and construction of 11 other schools is under way.
