The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) recovered 470 more acres of encroached land worth Rs 2 billion on Sunday in its ongoing anti-encroachment campaign. The recovered land in Deh Kound and Deh Mawach was meant for shifting 17 markets of the city near the Northern Bypass to ease the increasing traffic congestion in the metropolis. However, the land was encroached upon by the land mafia due to apathy of the authorities concerned. Executive District Officer (EDO) Revenue Ghanwar Leghari, District Officer Land Revenue Shoukat Jokhio and CDGK Anti-Encroachment Cell In-charge Irfan Bahadur supervised the operation.
