Barbaric practices

While the media invests a big chunk of its time and energy to fume and froth over the multitude of high profile issues relating to high ranking people, a small portion of air time given to a video showing the murder of a dozen soldiers of the FC by the Taliban however was enough to freeze the blood in our veins.

It highlights the stark and brutal reality that we have conveniently brushed aside to indulge in issues that make us appear more sophisticated and knowledgeable. Greed and hunger are the primeval driving forces behind this insensitivity that they exhibit.

This ensures their existence and fulfils their materialistic needs by various means such as charity, sumptuous donations, social work projects such as madrassahs, schools etc, ransom money, foreign aid and funding from delusional well wishers abroad.

Furthermore, the greed to be a part of the power structure by using religion and denouncing everyone else as infidels has helped them gain popular support among the deprived masses and earn quite a large number of foot soldiers to further their malignant cause.

Despite grave setbacks because of the army offensives, they still operate with impunity and have flouted all deals made with the government. This flagrantly barbaric behaviour calls for a strict response from the state machinery to enhance the security apparatus, judicial and investigation systems. The Taliban version of Sharia needs to be exposed right to its rotten core, wicked intensions and malevolent practices to ostracize its adherents from the realms of religion.
