The Punjab Assembly unanimously passed a resolution calling for a ban on ‘objectionable’ musical shows and concerts in the public and private educational institutions.
The opposition female member Seemal Kamran moved the resolution calling for a ban on all musical concerts in academic institutions. While quoting recent tragic incident in which students of a college died during a stampede, she said such activities should be banned from educational institutions since they were also against the teachings of Islam.
However, Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah Khan said the word ‘objectionable’ be added, which was, and the resolution was passed ‘unanimously’
Resolutions seeking blue passports, population control and the construction of waiting areas in hospitals were also passed while those seeking a ban on Indian movies and the construction of walls around graveyards were pended.
