Rescue 1122 begins 2-day CBDRR training

Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer on Sunday inaugurated the two-day Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDRR) training for the rescue and safety officers of Lahore district.
Dr Rizwan said that the Emergency Service believed in saving lives and changing minds and it was evident from the mission statement of the service, which states, “Development of safer communities through establishment of an effective system for emergency preparedness, response and prevention.”
He said further that after rescuing over 1.2 million victims of emergencies in all districts of Punjab with an average response time of 7 minutes, the Service intended to initiate the Community Based Disaster Risk Deduction and Safety Programmes in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS).
The CBDRR programme shall include appropriate community selection, rapport building and understanding of the community, formation of community based organisation, conduct of Vulnerability Capacity Assessment of the areas, planning and implementation of strategies and effective monitoring and evaluation.

  1. 1122 working for emergency response if they indulge in DRR activities will detract them from their main mandate. Don't lose your identity.
