A sub-inspector of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) was gunned down by unidentified pillion riders in Orangi Town on Thursday.
Mominabad police said SIU Sub-Inspector Ali Asghar Tarar, 45, was passing by an imambargah in Orangi Town No 10 when some unidentified motorcycle riders sprayed Tarar’s four-wheeler with bullets, killing him on the spot and injuring 5-year-old Hamza Adnan.
The deceased and the injured minor were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH).
Police have registered First Information Report No 15/12 under Sections 302, 324/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of Tarar’s brother.
STRANGLED: A 32-year-old man was strangled by unidentified men in Shah Latif Town police precincts.
The duty officer said during routine patrolling, a police party recovered an unidentified man’s body from an open plot in Zafar Town.
The deceased was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
BODY FOUND: The Surjani Town police recovered a body of an alleged drug-addict from the bushes in Sector 7-A.
Police said the condition of the body suggested that the deceased had been crushed by a vehicle.
The law enforcers could not identity the deceased and shifted the body to ASH.
