The conduct of the lawyers outside the SC, both chanting in favour of the PPP and CJP, was in extremely bad form. Firstly, the premises of the annals of justice have to be respected. Secondly, this is not a death match between the CJP and PPP and this sloganeering is needlessly giving the impression that the court is grinding a political axe and casting aspersions on its neutrality.
Lawyers have time and again resorted to street muscle to overturn what is not to their liking, even forcing a high court judge into hiding. This is an unfortunate fallout of the lawyers movement which was a noble movement to depose a dictator. All bar associations of the country should take not so that the lawyer community does not squander the goodwill it has earned
