Interference

It is unfortunate that whenever steps have been initiated towards police reforms, political intervention has created hurdles in the process. One of the main reasons for the current deteriorated condition of the police department is the continuous political interference by certain political elements, in its workings.

If the reason for such interference was to improve the performance of police, then it would have been welcome, but the situation is quite the opposite. Pressure is created by these elements to serve their own vested interests and influence the department into doing their bidding.

It is important that such influences should be removed from the police, if the department has to be converted into one that truly serves the citizens.
