Just when Pakistan wants to move ahead with its plans of a developing country, the international financial institutions start harping on their loan programmes. These programmes have made Pakistan a virtually dependent state on their loans, aid and other donations. What we need is a solid policy that rids us away from this unfortunate habit. Our policymakers and financial advisors must focus on exploiting local resources and ensuring the optimum use of our valuable human resource.
