The Rescue 15 has claimed to have received a total of 1,049,277 calls during the last year and said it responded effectively to help those who sought assistance.
According to the report presented to Inspector General of Police Islamabad Bani Amin Khan, it has been told that out of the received calls, a total of 116,052 were regarding general information, 962 were related to ambulance service, 274 were for fire brigade service, 596 for forensic lab and 259 regarding the missing and traced persons, says a press release issued on Sunday.
A total of 258 calls were received for registering complaints with WAPDA and Sui Northern Pipelines Limited, 3283 calls were related to provide immediate police assistance in PIMS and Policy Clinic hospitals, 4,580 calls were regarding assistance after traffic accidents, while 437 calls were related to the bomb disposal squad. It very unfortunate that the helpline received a huge figure of bogus calls, as the number stood around 880,106. All the distress calls were attended on the spot and relief was provided promptly to the citizens.
IGP Bani Amin Khan and SSP Muhammad Yousuf Malik have appealed the citizens to avoid making hoax calls to Rescue 15 as it is a waste of time of police officers and deprive the deserving people from immediate help in the difficult times.
