In reference to the Prime Minister’s message to Nawaz Sharif that in case of the government’s collapse, a ‘third force’ might come into power and they need to defend democracy by coming together.
The two parties have repeatedly downplayed PTI’s chances in the upcoming elections with various leaders of PPP and PML(N) making numerous remarks about the party being a ‘lota’ party. Let us not forget that Imran Khan has been in the political arena for over 15 years maintaining his stance for justice and against corruption. Maybe it is this struggle that has finally paid off with the addition of experienced and popular leaders like Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Javed Hashmi.
Perhaps, it is time for both parties to acknowledge the fact that PTI is emerging as a major political force in the country. After witnessing successful rallies in Lahore and Karachi, the comments like ‘old wine in a new bottle’ or ‘party made overnight that will end overnight’ will not change the fact that it is hard to write-off the party so easily.
