A special pink bus service for women has been started in Lahore. Member National Assembly Hamza Shahbaz Sharif and Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister, Begum Zakiya Shahnawaz inaugurated the project at Club Chowk, Mall Road. Leaders of Muslim League-N and workers were also present.
Talking to media, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif said that provision of modern and affordable transport facilities to the people was the priority of the government. He said that development of transport sector would provide relief to the people and reduce their problems.
He said that Pink bus services would be reserved for women. He said that initially the bus service had been started as a pilot project on three major routes of the provincial metropolis including Thokar Niaz Beg to Jallo Mor, RA Bazaar to Saandha and Station to Green Town.
In case of the success of the pilot project, the service would be started on more routes and the number of pink buses would be increased as well, he said adding that the entire staff of the bus except driver would consist of women. He said that 550 more buses will be introduced on city roads in March which would resolve the transport problem of the people to a large extent.
He said further that Muslim League-N government considered politics as a means to resolve the problems of the people.
He said the party was standing by the people on the issue of the suspension of the supply of CNG and would continue to protest till the present government was brought to an end.
