The United States said that it has not cancelled the F-16 programme for Pakistan and the planned delivery of the last “new-buy” F-16s purchased by Pakistan is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan from the United States in late January, 2012.
In a press release here on Thursday, the US Embassy described as inaccurate some media reports that the US has stopped the F-16 delivery programme.
“Neither Pakistan nor the United States has cancelled the F-16 programme” the press release said.
The Embassy further said that several other F-16s purchased by Pakistan from the US are undergoing mid-life upgrades and will arrive in Pakistan beginning in late January. Deliveries of the aircraft will continue throughout this year and next.
