Shaheen Air flight narrowly escaped accident when one of its tyres burst before take-off at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on Thursday (today).

Dubai-bound Shaheen Air flight NL-766 at Lahore airport faced a tyre burst, causing the aircraft to tilt towards its side before taking off.

The engine started making loud noises seconds before take-off which prompted the pilot to apply emergency breaks to keep the plane on the runway.

However, the breaks caused three of the plane’s tyres to burst.

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) personnel as well as engineers of Shaheen Air reached the spot and started rescue activities.

All 160 passengers aboard the  plane remained safe, airport sources said.

Following the incident, CAA announced the primary runway of Lahore airport has been closed for a brief period of time.
