The Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) is all set to launch its upgraded bilingual universal website with new features and layout design of international standards today (Thursday) at ZA Bukhari Auditorium at 1pm. Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan will preside over the launching ceremony while Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Dr Nadeem-ul-Haq will be the chief guest. The user-friendly upgraded website is part of Radio Pakistan’s programme to keep pace with fast-changing developments in information and communication field. Besides conventional means of broadcasting, Radio Pakistan is effectively using social media, including Internet, YouTube and facebook to provide information and entertainment to the people. At the same time, Radio Pakistan broadcasts are also available on more than 100 million mobile phones in the country and abroad.
The ceremony coincides with the 84th birth-anniversary of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. To pay homage to the founder of the Pakistan People’s Part, Radio Pakistan will also broadcast a daylong special transmission ‘Salaam Quaid-e-Awam’ on Thursday (today), which will begin at 8am and continue till 11pm. The transmission features interviews and impressions of the federal ministers, leaders of different political parties and intellectuals and scholars eulogising the services of the Shaheed leader to create a strong Muslim ummah and the role he played in strengthening democracy and democratic institutions.
