This merciless killing of Professor Bashir Channer, who was working as Director Students Affairs in the University of Sindh, Jamshoro has indeed drawn a widespread condemnation. However, the Sindhi intelligentsia in and abroad have slammed the growing gun culture on the campuses.
The ruthless murder of a professor in such an environment where the police and other law enforcement agencies personnel are ubiquitous and the scenic varsity affords a look of an occupied island, calls for retrospection on the part of the administration and thorough probe into the murder so that the killers are nabbed and awarded an exemplary punishment as per law of the land.
Since it has been a terrible incident on the campus, hence, the administration must think outside the box, outside the luxurious offices, and outside the norm. They must leap outside the office and administration block and above all must take stern action to limit the availability of guns on the campus.
