Senior politician and PTI leader Javed Hashmi has warned that ineffective Parliament would spell disaster for Pakistan.
Presenting his resignation from National Assembly to acting Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi here on Thursday, he said that he still pinned his hopes with NA, and said that he was dismayed at the way masses were becoming disenchanted with the Parliament.
Justifying his joining of PTI, he said that he did not want to go wasted, and wanted any platform for his struggle for Pakistan’s betterment; preferring Imran Khan’s PTI.
He also informed that, as much as 47 parliamentarians had also tendered their resignations, and said that rulers would only awake to reality when the entire Parliament would go vacant.
Declaring that constitution gave right to masses to elect their desired PM, he said that if masses elect Imran Khan, it is also their right.
He said that he respected PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, as Nawaz Sharif personally lured me out of house into politics, and was on a higher ground in his political esteem and acumen.
He also disclosed that PM Yousaf Raza Gilani offered him Rs 5 million for his treatment, which he simply refused to accept, and also strongly rejected the notion that he had ever accepted any development funds for his constituency, from a dictator like Musharraf.
He also thanked PPPP for supporting and contesting his case, as a Parliamentarian, besides resisting a dictator like Musharraf, for his sake.
He informed that his political career began in 1967, and was voted to Parliament in 1985. He disclosed that former president Zia-ul-Haq had offered him speaker’s post over supporting his (Zia-ul-Haq’s) candidate, which he (Javed) had regretted.
Javed Hashmi also reminded that he had put strong resistance to efforts by Zia-ul-Haq to bring forth 18th amendment, and expressed his regrets that instead of strengthening Parliament, the politicians were rather chasing power, eroding the ethical standing of Parliament.

  1. This Peshawar-based college going trio has literally transformed Mr Javed Hashmi’s words with a fine blend of Jalib’s poetry and retro rock music. This song ‘Baghi’ certainly has what it takes to become the official anthem of PTI. Keep rocking guys as the youth of Pakistan have woken up to the crumbling monoliths of Pakistan’s political elite.

    Listen to the rebellion here.
