The Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) has removed the condition of specified subjects for taking admission in its archeology department for the spring semester of 2012. Earlier, after selling 412 prospectuses, the admission branch had abruptly stopped further sales, causing difficulties for prospective students. The varsity admission department had added additional papers to the prospectuses rendering all graduates eligible.
During the last week, Pakistan Today highlighted this issue after which QAU Vice Chancellor Dr Masoom Yasinzai took action on the story and summoned a meeting of the admission branch, directing them to restart the sale of prospectuses with an additional paper to make all graduates eligible for seeking admissions in the archeology department.
“We have removed the bar of specified subjects. Every graduate can now apply,” he said. It is relevant to note here that the QAU is offering admissions for the first time to all graduates regardless of which subjects they had adopted for their graduation. QAU Registrar Dr Shafeeq-ur-Rehman said those students who had purchased prospectuses without additional papers could also apply for admission in the archeology department.
