Two women committed suicide over domestic issues in the provincial capital on Sunday. In the first incident, a middle-aged woman killed herself by taking poisonous pills. The deceased was identified as 40-year-old Nusrat Bibi, resident of Kot Lakhpat. In another incident, 18-year-old Zubaida, resident of Raiwind City, ended her life on differences with parents.
MAN DIES FROM BURN WOUNDS: An elderly man died from extensive burn wounds in an incident inside a church Christmas evening in Baghban Pura Police precincts on Sunday. The deceased, 55-year-old Piara Maseeh, lived in Saint Mary Church in Mahmood Boti area. He sustained severe burn injuries when his blanket caught fire from his cigarette. He succumbed to the injuries while being taken to nearby hospital. The deceased was buried in the local Christian graveyard.
BODIES RECOVERED: Police recovered two bodies in Bhatti Chowk and Tibbi City localities on Sunday. The two men were found lying dead and the respective police stations were informed about the dead bodies by locals. Police suspected both were drug addicts and died from prolonged exposure to the hostile weather. Police removed the bodies to city morgue for autopsy.
SIX ARRESTED IN DISTILLERY RAID: Muslim Town Police claimed to have arrested six people, including a woman, during a raid at an alcohol distillery in Shad Di Khoi area. The arrested were identified as Bagh Maseeh, his wife Parveen Bibi, his brother Riaz Maseeh, Faryad Maseeh, Shan Maseeh and Amir Aslam. Police also recovered liquor in large quantities and confiscated the distillery’s machinery. Police started investigations into the matter after a registering case against the arrested people.
SUICIDE: A man shot himself due to financial problems in Mozang Police limits early on Sunday. The deceased, Mohsin, was an employee of a multinational company and resident of Main Bazaar Mozang. The deceased wrote a suicide letter before shooting himself, in which he stated financial problems as the reason for his committing suicide. However, police said the matter was being investigated further. The body was handed over to the family after an autopsy.
BODY RECOVERED FROM CANAL: the tortured body of a middle-aged woman was found floating in the canal in Harbanspura Police precincts on Sunday. The deceased, yet to be identified, was spotted by locals. Police retrieved the body from the canal with the help of rescue 1122 and shifted it to the morgue for autopsy. According to police, the deceased was wearing a red dress and it was suspected she had died from a head injury. Police registered a case against unidentified murderers.
MAN DIES AS SHOPS BURN DOWN: a man was burnt to death in a fire that broke out at a shop in Liaqatabad Police precincts, while valuables worth thousands of rupees were reduced to ashes. 25-year-old Nasir was burnt alive a when fire erupted at a foam shop located at Peco Road near Choti Phatki, while the owner of the shop sustained severe burn injuries. The fire erupted when welding work being done in the shop’s basement caused a fire which also engulfed an adjacent paint shop, reducing everything in the shops to ashes. Fire fighters controlled the fire after valiant efforts lasting over an hour. The body was handed over to the family, while the injured owner of the shop was treated at the hospital.
GANGS BUSTED: Chohang Police claimed to have arrested two robbers’ gangs and recovered looted valuables and arms. A Chohang Police team traced and arrested three men of Toni Gang while they were on the way to sell a stolen car. The arrested men were identified as Attique, the gang leader, and his accomplices Bilal and Dogar.
The same police team arrested two members of Chochi gang while one of their accomplices managed to escape. The arrested men were identified as gang leader Imran and Nadeem. The gang was wanted by police in 16 cases of theft and robberies.
MAN DIES IN ROAD ACCIDENT: A 35-year-old man died in a road accident in Baghbanpura Police limits on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Fiaz Masih, resident of 60-Mughalpura. The deceased was on his bike and collided with the footpath. As a result, he received serious injuries and died on the spot. Police handed over the body to his family.
