Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Engineer Farkhand Iqbal has said that Christians are an integral part of our society and they have always played a key role in the development of the city.
He said this while speaking at a ceremony held here on Wednesday in connection with the Christmas celebrations. The event was organized jointly by Christian Youth Uplift Forum and the CDA here at FGA Church. Farkhand said Christians deserved appreciation for their services they had been rendering to keep the city in a tidy condition and preserving its green identity. As the capital has completed 50 years of its establishment last year, the efforts of Christians stood tall and which has been acknowledged at all forums, he observed. “On the CDA’s request, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani has lit up a tall Christmas Tree at the Pakistan Monument and hence he has showed his heartiest solidarity with the Christians in the country. Christians are peace-loving community and they are working hard for the development and up-lift of the country,” Iqbal added. The CDA chairman said the CDA was perhaps the only organisation, which paid special bonuses to its Christian employees on Ester and Christmas. He said the authority had always met the demands of Christians, adding that a plot for a church had been allotted to the Full Gospel Assembly (FGA), which was under construction.
