SC disposes of CDA official’s bail plea

The Supreme Court (SC) has disposed of bail plea of CDA Deputy Director (DD) Iftikhar Haidri following its withdrawal by his counsel in Safa Gold Mall corruption case.

A three-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice (CJ) Anwar Zaheer Jamali took up the case for hearing on Wednesday.

NAB prosecutor Nasir Mughal took the plea that reference has been filed and only 11 witnesses are left.

The CJ remarked: “No bail can be given in NAB cases. Someone has not given Rs 4 million to the accused for consuming sweets.”

The counsel for accused withdrew the bail plea to avoid its rejection. The court disposed of the case afterwards.

It may be mentioned that the accused was caught red handed while allegedly receiving Rs 4 million from owner of Safa Gold Mall located in sector F-7.
