The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines has decided to provide gas supplies to CNG stations on Monday and Tuesday on account of Ashura.
According to SNGPL schedule, the CNG stations in Lahore region were to be closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday but because of Ashura falling on Monday and Tuesday, the company decided to provide relief to the consumers and announced to provide gas supplies. However, there would be closure of CNG stations on Wednesday. SNGPL Deputy Secretary Muhammad Imtiaz said the company had provided relief to the consumers in special days by providing gas supplies to CNG stations.
“We give relief to the consumers on special holidays,” he said. It was not made clear if the CNG stations would remain open on Thursday or not. Meanwhile, long queues of vehicles were observed at every CNG stations on Sunday evening. The consumers were not aware of the relief provided by the SNGPL and were filing their vehicles to cope with coming three days closure. A number of CNG stations and domestic customers in the city also faced low gas pressure. The CNG stations in Johar Town, College Road and Shalimar areas experienced low gas pressure.
The automobile owners said they were used to filling their vehicles in advance before three-day closure. The CNG stations in Township, Gulberg, Herbanspura, Walled City and other areas faced problems because of low pressure of the gas. The CNG station owners said due to low pressure they faced problems in filing vehicles. However, they appreciated the decision of SNGPL for opening CNG stations during Ashura. “The decision would help the consumers during Ashura,” said a CNG station owner Muhamamd Siddiq.
