Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has officially taken over the PPP’s affairs as he presided over his first meeting with the leaders of the PPP’s information wings on Tuesday.
The meeting was held at the Bilawal House in Karachi when the younger Zardari arrived from Larkana after making some public appearances in the district.
This was Bilawal’s first party meeting that he held independently after officially entering Pakistani politics.
The PPP chairman, whom the participants of the meeting briefed on the operations of the information wings, ordered their leaders to increase activities of their respective wings.
Bilawal directed establishing media cells in all four provinces of the country to strengthen the functioning of the party.
He also directed making arrangements for the training of the party’s information secretaries.
He said instead of adopting an aggressive approach for dealing with negative news regarding the party, the PPP leaders should tackle such information in a technical manner.
Talking to the media after the meeting, Federal Information Secretary Qamruzzaman Kaira said the PPP’s young chairman wants the youth to join the party.
Kaira also said Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s significance was only because of the PPP, and termed Qureshi’s statement regarding the country’s nuclear assets as pointless.
Moreover, Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri told the media that the PPP is working on a new line of action.
Pakistan Ambassador Designate to US Sherry Rehman, Farahnaz Ispahani, Farzana Raja, Abdul Qadir Patel and PPP’s information secretaries for all four provinces also attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani arrived in Karachi and called on Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan at the Governor’s House to discuss the current political situation.
Gilani is also expected to meet the PPP chairman at the Bilawal House.
The prime minister is also scheduled to inaugurate the UAE’s exhibition at the Expo Centre on Wednesday.

    • He is going to ride a car which needs a big overhaul.

Jeremy Paxman (BBC News-night correspondent) asked him upon his mothers death, "Is this a political party or a piece of family furniture which is being handed over to you".

His reply, "That is how things are done in our part of the world."

  1. This must be a very emotional for everyone when Bilawal Bhutto son of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and grandson of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto has officialy took over the party's affairs by conducting first meeting. I am sure the meeting room must be with emotions and love for him. People's party can bounce back with Bilawal leading them all over Pakistan. Until next elections Bilawal needs to keep in contact with Pakistani people and get experience in the politics of the country. I am sure he is a smart and intelligent person and will follow his elders footsteps to become a successful leader.

  2. not acceptable, it is not democracy, I ll call civil dictatorship…..and Bilawal is not of Bhutto family, this guy is from Zardari’s…Mai nahi manta aisi dastoor ko……subh i binoor koo

  3. Sod off Bilawal, this country is not a monarchy. He's hardly out of uni and already leading the largest political party of Pakistan, what a joke. Oh wait, he's got the Bhutto name, that totally makes him worthy. =/

  4. Monarchy is prevailing in this country..He is not Bhutto…He is Zardari’ son… The fool will vote him and make him president …And he will suck this nation’s blood like his Dad…

  5. i agree with you cyra zardariz are a blast for this nation bhutoos have sacrificed …and see zulifikar junior ka naam bi nai liya jata even bht kaam log jantay hei ussay …….well hum bi pakistani hein ek zardari jae ga r dosra take over kre ga …….

  6. very necessary for Pakistan in this critical time young talent like janab Bilawal Bhutto,we all muslims pray for him that he will work hard truely, honestly for pakistan and for Muslim world and for crying brothers around the world,Allah hu Akbar.

    • young talent?? are you frikkin serious… talent is not bred, it is inherent in a person with drive, intellect, and is polished by experience and maturity. if it was a feudal possession being handed over generation to generation even then i think bilawal would've been talented in only one thing; plundering the pride of this nation

  7. When the elders are eliminated physicaly then younger one have a right to come forward & lead it.
The fascists should have enough courage to defeat ZAB & BB politically rather than eliminating them physically. I know that they can not defeat its ideolgy & that's why they cry this saga of monarchy. Its always the people who decide & not the drawing room fascists. I will quote Naseer Qawi. Pawn frosh poet from Jehlum: Kayun itna bhoj uthatay ho, kaisay yeh qarz utaro ghay, yeh bazi jaan ki baazi hai, yeh baazi tum hi haro ghay, har ghar say bhutto niklay gha, tum kitney bhutto maaro ghay.

  8. he not Bhutto,Mr Bhutto sacrificed for pakistan and for Muslim nation.mr bilawal is a zardari he can not become Bhutto.

  9. Change is always welcomed. So I welcome Bilawal. The current critical juncture of our country's politics needs some positive changes too. I hope Bilawal will follow the path of ZAB and BB.
