The 19th death anniversary of a leading Urdu and Punjabi poet, writer, journalist, broadcaster and prominent worker of Pakistan movement, Altaf Parwaz, is being observed today (Thursday) at 11am. His friends, relatives and various literary organisations will place floral wreaths on the grave of the deceased at the central graveyard near Zero Point and offer fateha. Aiwan-e-Karkunan-e-Tehrik-e-Pakistan awarded him gold medal for his selfless and meritorious services in the Pakistan movement in the field of journalism and literature. He is the author of more than 75 books in various disciplines of literature, including poetry and prose. He has also translated collections of Pashto sufi poet, Rehman Baba, Baloch poet Mast Toukali and Khalil Jibran’s poems into Punjabi. Altaf Parwaz’s Naat collection, ‘Noor-e-Hira’ has recently been published.
