Police claimed to have arrested three women and a man allegedly accused of kidnapping a four-year-old child and recovered the abducted child from their custody on Wednesday.
According to details, Nargis, 25, hailing from Gujranwala had come to General Hospital Lahore for the treatment of her husband where she met with a woman identified as Nasreen.
Nasreen took her to Bibi Pakdaman Shrine on the pretext to pray for the health of her husband. Nasreen asked her to go inside the shrine for prayers. As soon as Nargis went inside the shrine to offer prayer, Nasreen fled away with her four-year-old child identified as Azan Ali from the scene. When Nargis came out of the shrine, she searched for her son, but was unable to find him. She informed the police about the incident immediately.
Acting upon the information, police, with the help of CCTV footage and criminal records, arrested four, including the main accused Nasreen, along with her two daughters Kiran, and Iram, and her son-in-law. Police also recovered the abducted child, Azan.
Nasreen confessed in police custody to have kidnapped the child as one of her daughters was unable to bear a son.
Police said that the accused was already booked for kidnapping an infant from General Hospital some time back, adding that police recovered another seven months old baby from possession of the detainee, which she claimed to be her own.
A sase of kidnapping has been registered against the detainees, and they have been shifted for interrogation.
